Answers to all your SunDome Questions!

1. What are the benefits of having a Sun Dome on my pool?

One of the biggest benefits is improved heating—your Sun Dome can warm the air by up to 40°F and heat the water by as much as 20°F using solar energy. It also shields your pool from leaves, bugs, debris, and cool early‑spring or late‑summer breezes. Because your pool stays cleaner, you’ll spend less on chemicals and save on cleaning costs.

Most round or oval above‑ground pools can be fitted with a Sun Dome. For in‑ground pools, we offer rectangular models. Visit our Sun Dome Product Page to find the right fit for your pool.

The cover is crafted from 12‑mil, double‑polished clear vinyl, supported by a frame of 1″ diameter polished aluminum tubing. Neoprene shock cords secure the enclosure through grommets.

Yes. Each Sun Dome is covered for one year against defects in materials or workmanship. On average, the vinyl lasts 3–5 years depending on your environment and maintenance.

Yes! Most customers install it themselves in about 2–3 hours with basic tools like a power drill, measuring tape, and duct tape.
For in‑ground pool domes, installation is more involved—plan on two people and around 8 hours.

Some dealers or retailers offer installation services. If not, we recommend hiring a local handyman.

The Sun Dome can withstand winds up to 40–45 mph. However, it’s not designed for heavy sustained winds or snow loads. In areas with heavy snowfall, remove the dome before the first snow on a sunny day.

Use mild soap and water—dish soap or car‑wash soap works well. Test a small area first to make sure the product is safe. Avoid oil‑based cleaners, as they can damage the vinyl. While regular cleaning isn’t required, we recommend removing debris before storage.

A patch kit is included with every Sun Dome. If you need additional vinyl patch material, contact us directly.

To remove the Sun Dome, simply unsnap the neoprene cords and lift the cover over the frame. Ensure the cover is clean and dry before folding. Roll it up like a sleeping bag and store it in a cool, dry place. Sprinkling cornstarch between folds will help prevent sticking. If the vinyl turns milky while stored, it will clear up once it’s back in the sun.

Although not specifically designed as sun protection, the Sun Dome does block UV rays. You may get a light tan, but it will prevent sunburn.
